| Textbooks from PhotoCourse.com
have two components that can be used separately or together: core texts
and Photoshop lab manuals. In addition, supplements will be periodically made available
on interesting topics. Support materials such as end-of chapter
questions and exercises and PowerPoint presentations will also be made
available in the future.
All of our books are distributed as full-color, fully searchable PDF eBooks
that we call eTexts. These eTexts can
be read on any PC or Mac equipped with an up-to-date browser and the
free Adobe Acrobat reader. eBooks such
as ours are revolutionizing the publishing and printing businesses.
Here are just some of the ways they are superior to printed texts:
Linked multimedia. etexts can
be much more powerful teaching tools because they can integrate
animations, movies, audio, other documents, and links to Web sites.
Our texts open up this rich and diverse world just by clicking links
embedded in our books. Imagine how much easier it will be to convey
the concept of pixelization with an
animation like this.
Print on demand.
Traditional publishers print
large quantities at one time, increasing their risks and prices. The
print on demand model is to print only when a copy is ordered,
eliminating warehousing expenses. This same model applies to using this eBook.
You only print selected pages or chapters when they are needed. You no
longer have to carry a heavy book, and if you loose your
materials, you just print another copy.
In many schools students can even stop by any
computer anywhere on campus and access their text.
Timeliness. Since large
quantities of inventory aren’t required, we can revise and update materials
as needed instead of on a fixed schedule every 2 or 3 years. In a rapidly
evolving field such as digital photography these frequent revisions are
often required to keep materials up to date. The eText
you will be reading was updated just before publication.
Distribute and print.
Traditional publishers work on a print and
distribute basis. This means they take enormous risks, tie up lots of
capital, and bear high inventory and warehouse
costs, all of these costs are passed on to you. The emerging model, used by this eBook,
is called distribute and print. Using this model, materials are
distributed around the world electronically and then printed where needed.
Here are just some of the things
people have said about our book "The Textbook of Digital
Photography" as it was put into circulation—excerpted just as they are in Hollywood and on Broadway.
Can all of these people be wrong?
Is it possible that the least expensive text is also the BEST text! Opinions
seem to be leaning that way.
I am amazed at the
quality of your course.
I love your text,
and will continue using it.
Your books are
wonderful and I'm sure we will continue using them for
quite some time.
The book is great.
I would like to use it with my Journalism 2 class, starting
immediately!
I like what I see.
I really like the Photoshop Elements Course.
I would like very much to
use your text.
I loved the books.
I will like to adopt both to my course
I would like to request the use of this book
in a new class we are starting in a week. I've looked over all the
books available, and have found your to be
most impressive.
I have read several chapter in each ebook
and I am very impressed, the
scope of it is amazing and
very thorough and well-written.
Your materials are
wonderful!
What I have had a chance to look at so far
on the others has been exceptional!
Thanks for such a wonderful source!
After reviewing your book, "The Textbook of
Digital Photography", I would like permission to use it and distribute
it to my class. Thank you for doing such a
great job on this book.

I have downloaded and reviewed the Textbook
of Digital Photography and I must say I am
thoroughly pleased! This is just what I am looking for. I
am sure our teachers and administrators will benefit tremendously from
the use of your materials in our digital imaging courses.
So far this text is
amazing
You explain the
concepts very well and I was impressed by the
clarity of your writing.
Your book is a
wonderful resource for my students.
I read the original digital photography book
from cover to cover. When I started there were things I was looking
for that I include in my courses, as I got further into your book I
found everything I was looking for.
It is excellently
written, you've included very precise information and
images to support the discussion, and are certainly current with new
advances in digital photography. Your text will be
perfect for our course.
So glad that you are writing just the
textbook for Digital Photography that we instructors like to see
available on the market. It's a great book
and much needed! I certainly like to see it used in my
classes.
The way you have presented your publication
is very much how I teach. What I would like to capture is the
enthusiasm in which you deliver your
work presenting as a labor of love rather than a scientific journal.
I downloaded the first three chapters and
loved them. I haven’t read them
completely but what I have read is just what I was looking for.
Students used the Depth of Field section in
the ebook last week as part of digital photo exercise--your images "said
it perfectly" In fact, the photo examples are a great
strength to your text. Many comment how seeing the images increase the
understanding for the "visual learners"
It's an approach that I understand. The
order of the chapters makes sense and guides people through from
basics to specifics. Excellent work.
I have been examining many different texts
and trade books and none so far has covered the breath of topics that
I would like. Yours seems to come the closest
so far!
Firstly I would like to say you have done a
tremendous job.
The text looks
great. I already use your material in my classes.
I have looked at the first few chapters.
They are great,
The text has proven
extremely valuable for my students in Introduction To
Digital Photography. The detail, clarity and examples included in your
text supports my instructional approach perfectly.
… the book is
looking great. The section on flash and flash accessories
is great! No one ever covers this area right, but you have....The book
is great so far...
From what I have read so far I think that
the book is great. I like the way
you started with the history of the camera and then transition into
the specifics of digital cameras. I like what I have seen so far.
The book is great.
The explanations using both pictures and the graphs indicating ranges
are excellent. It has made it much easier to explain the usage of
their cameras regardless of brand. Thanks very much and great work.
My first thoughts are as follows: Wow! What
a lot of work! I love intro cow photo - it catches your attention. I
like the use of the many graphics (e.g. the ones that compare the
effects of shutter speed on aperture etc) and the pictures are great.
I like the use of bullets and the separating of some sections into
small block of information.
Thanks again. You do
quality work and it shows.
I only have the chapters 0-3 of your book
and the information I saw so far seems to be
very useful. I will for sure use that in my classes.
Wow very nice!
Just had a moments look, and I'm hooked. Great idea. Good work.
The first three chapters
look good. The level is about
right… it is broken down into manageable segments. The photos are good
examples and break up the text nicely.
I went through it all last night and agree
that it is a lot of work and an excellent
effort at explaining some difficult concepts. Overall, I
think you have done a fine job of explaining lots of technical stuff.
It looks like you will have
another winner with this book. It
is information for use by real people, not just the pros. I liked the
practical progression you presented by allowing users to get the
information they need to know to have any success. It is enough that
they can start learning hands on by trying what comes after. It is
active learning which is the best. I love
how graphic the book is. I need to see it, and then I
understand what you explain. Great work. I wish you lots of success.
I like
the information, the order in which it is given and the examples…
I really like
what I see so I am very motivated to use this text in a new class and
hope for the speedy completion of the material for use.
I commend you for your efforts.
Your love of the subject is evident.
Thanks for the course book - it
follows my line of thought about
teaching digital photography
It is a wonderfully
inclusive text.
